My name is Wu Ruixuan, and I come from Taiping, Malaysia. When I was 18, after graduating from the science class of Taiping Hualian High School, I decided to go to Ireland for further studies, mainly because I had a strong interest in European countries. After some research, I found that Ireland was the best place for me to pursue education and life experiences, so in November 2015, I embarked on my journey to Ireland.
Finding a suitable job upon arriving in Ireland wasn't easy, but with a friend's recommendation, I quickly found my ideal one. At NED, I felt like I'd found a big family made up of people from all over the world. The students here were very welcoming, and the teacher was a very friendly Polish man who enjoyed taking us on outdoor learning trips, such as to parks or to museums and art galleries.
I have completed two sessions at NED. Initially, because everyone's English level was not very good, we often communicated through simple English and gestures, which was a very interesting experience. Everyone here is great; no one laughs at you for not understanding, but helps each other and learns together. Over time, my English has improved significantly, and now we can all communicate fluently in English.
Our consultant, Stiva, may seem a bit unreliable, but her advice is always helpful. She talks a lot, but she always provides the assistance needed.
Living in Ireland gave me a completely different experience with the education system and pace of life compared to Asia. The education here focuses more on fostering students' passion for learning, without the invisible pressure often found in Asia. Through a friend, I learned about NED (National Educational and Research Institute of Ireland).
Before coming to Ireland, I had already planned to attend university. By working part-time while studying at language school, I saved enough for my first year's tuition. Through friends' recommendations and online research, I learned about the various universities in Dublin and also visited their international student offices to understand the admission requirements for international students.
My chosen major is Design Communication, which, as the name suggests, is a discipline that conveys information to people through visual elements. This major covers a wide range of fields, offering diverse career options. Important documents required for university applications include high school transcripts, proof of English proficiency, and a portfolio.
